A number of pundits have praised this session of Congress as one of the most activist in U.S. history, and yet it’s fascinating to find how few members of Congress are running for reelection on this record of accomplishment.

But then consider:

-- Fifty-seven percent (57%) of Likely U.S. Voters favor repeal of the new health care law, including 46% who Strongly Favor it. Since Congress' passage of the bill in late March, considered by many to be its landmark achievement this session, a majority of voters have consistently favored its repeal, with support ranging from a low of 53% to a high of 63%.

-- Only 34% of voters think last year’s economic stimulus plan helped the economy. Sixty-one percent (61%) disagree including (39%) who believe the stimulus package hurt the economy and 22% who believe the $787-billion plan had no impact. . . . .

Monday morning Matt Drudge used a curious headline "Obama Approve/Disapprove Reach Parity" to link to the RealClearPolitics Average, which now shows the President with a 48% approval rating and a 47% disapproval rating. To us, this revelation was far from shocking; it is the extension of a trend we have seen emerging as far back as this past August.

Our interactive polling began to show the President's predicament not long after the healthcare town hall events finished unsettling the usually calm Washington August. Since that time, his standing among political independents has fluctuated from a low of 36% to a high of 47%. And with every dip in the President's support among independents, his overall approval has followed.
